Salon or Box?
I’ve never been one to make-up, style, or dress to impress. This is where, as a theoretical housewife, I save the Hubs a ton of money. Telling him how much money I saved him has become an inside joke between us. “Look how much I saved you, Hun!” Nails and pedicures are infrequent too, but I do love it when I take the time to pamper myself. Now, when it comes to events where I want to look smashing, I take the time to fix the hair, face, and dress vera vera nice! However, workout clothes and messy bun are my every day attire; it’s about being comfortable in my home.
When it comes to my hair, I’m a Box. Taking the time to go to a salon was not something I could afford back in the day, or did I just not prioritize me? My sister is the one who introduced me to the “box” color kit. She didn’t mind telling me that my grey hair was showing and I needed to get to those roots. She sure did! I would also get the scissors out and trim my own hair. Not very well; hence, the messy buns. My hair grew a little bit during the many months of Covid-19. I trimmed pieces here and there, but I was never able to create a style. I called a salon and booked an appointment for today. Call it a business decision.
By Appointment Only
I have another appointment on Wednesday with my publisher to have a professional “author” photograph taken. When my book is ready for publication, it will include a picture of me on the back book cover. So, my hair has to look smashing! How exciting and scary! This is for real yall!
I was way past due for a salon visit. I really want to look and feel great. Today, Bailey cut and styled my hair. Nothing too drastic, just a shape and style. She also shared some tips for self-hair care. We went for a layered look and used some leave-in conditioner, dry shampoo, and a root lifter. My mane is much thinner than it was many moons ago so these products help. The pictures show a little bit of the process and the end result. This was a fun and exciting bougie hair adventure. I can’t wait to share my professional “author” photograph with ya’ll!
